Bio

Michael Whelan was born, raised and died in Omaha, NE. Thankfully the death didn’t take. He writes creative nonfiction that primarily focuses on the body, health, healing, trauma, recovery, gender roles, and advocacy for different communities, including the LGBT, gender nonconforming (and anyone under that umbrella), disabled and deaf communities. He tries to be a little less serious with his fiction but is only successful about half of the time.

He holds his MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University-Los Angeles and currently lives somewhere in Colorado with his husband, dog, and a cat that he (fondly?) refers to as a squatter. He is a proud lefty, chocoholic and bookaholic. Other passions include animals, being the occasional hell-raiser and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
